  • Vermilion’s 2-well infill development drilling program in 100%- held Carnarvon Basin Wandoo oilfield WA-14-L pushed back to December due to shuffle in West Atlas schedule;
  • Albers Group’s Browse Basin WA-332-P & WA-333-P extended by one year each pushing back year-5 drilling commitment to March 2009;

  • Offshore, Santos’ Netherby-1 (VIC-P-44) was plugged and abandoned as a gas discovery well on Aug 2 at TD 1875m, Frigate Deep-1 (WA-18-P) is drilling ahead at 2520m and appraisal well Mutineer-14 (WA-27-L) is drilling ahead after spudding Aug 13
  • Onshore, since spudding Aug 9 Mosaic Oil’s West Boggo Creek-1 (PL-16) is drilling ahead in a 7-7/8” hole at 650m.
  • In the coalseam gas and corehole sector, Santos’ Grafton Range-26 (PL-4) was plugged and abandoned at TD 670m, Yanalah-7 (PL-4) was cased and suspended at TD 755m

Pex Monthly
  • Beach firms up well list to round out fixed West Triton program
    Beach has firmed up its well sequence for the West Triton, now two slots out on the rig schedule after Nexus’ current Longtom-4 and Stuart’s Bazzard-1 in VIC-P-53. Beach will kick off by drilling 57mil bbl potential Peejay-1 to earn 50% in TAS-39-P with Benaris as its 50% partner, followed by 33mil bbl Spikey Beach-1 in TAS-38-P, earning 80% from Cue and Exoil, holding 10% each.
  • Juniors back centre stage as new round of Cooper drilling looms
    Cooper Basin activity will heat up again starting this month, with the Vic Petoperated PEL-104 JV getting handover of MB Century Rig-3 from Stuart for a 3+2 development program centred around the 200BOPD producing Growler field, starting with Growler-3 in PRL-15, with sites for –4 and –5 also approved.

  • Seismic analysis throws up new prospect for PEP-11 JV
    MEC Resources claims that recent new seismic analysis undertaken by its investing company Advent Energy in offshore Sydney Basin block PEP-11, which pits the old data alongside the new, has confirmed the presence of the existing Baleen structure, along with adding a new prospect to the mix.
  • Origin commits to either Carrack or Caravel in the Canterbury
    After showcasing its portfolio of ‘elephant’ targets in its operated acreage offshore Kenya and NZ at the APPEA conference held in Perth in April, Origin has today announced its intention to kick on in the Canterbury Basin, taking 100% held PEP-38262 into the fourth permit year by committing to drill an exploration well.
